Hunter and the Wick'd
featured on BWH Music Group's album,
Keepin' It Country.
Hunter and the Wick'd are one of the featured songs on BWH Music Group's album, Keepin' It Country.
What is the name of the song you have on ‘Keepin’ It Country, Vol. One’? "I Don’t Wanna Talk Right Now"
What is the inspiration behind your song? Or what is your song about?
In our society, it’s almost as if touching is taboo. We’ve lost a sense of boundaries and so our personal space often feels violated. Touching from the heart and with integrity is a lost art.
How did you write your featured song? Or can you describe your songwriting process?
This song was easy to write, it just flowed. The difficulty or pain of writing it was that it was triggered by a sense of losing connection to someone I cared about. I slept on that and in the morning the song come out quickly, as if during the night I gained perspective and a solution......don’t speak, just hold each other.
If you could share the stage with one Country artist, who would it be?!
The Highway Men, awesome songwriters and performers.
Who or what has inspired you the most in your music career?
I think that being alive is the biggest inspiration. Each person you meet, every city, state or country that you travel through.....are all inspiration. They all have stories...
How did you first get introduced to Country music? Or what made you decide to pursue Country music?
My mother was a huge country and western music fan. So when I got in her car, there it would be. I have to admit it wasn’t love at first hearing, but as I got older I learned to love and appreciate it. I love the stories and simple honesty of the old, now called Americana, music.
Of the songs you have written, which one was the most challenging to write and why? For me, the hardest part of songwriting is co-writing. About half of the songs on our CD were co -written, by bassist and guitarist Thom Merrick. It was a process of two strong willed people, being able to let go and really listen to another person......some of those songs are really great. You can see both us, yet it’s neither of us. It’s something more.
Where do you live and how is the Country music scene there!? Thom and I currently live in a little place called Wonder Valley. It’s in the southern California desert near Joshua Tree, about 2 1/2 hours east of Los Angeles. It’s the Mojave desert. The sky is so blue and it’s wide open space. We have an ordinance that prohibits certain kinds of lights at night (bright lights, no streetlights), so the night is really dark and there are millions of stars that you can’t see in the city. It really gives you a sense of your place in the universe. There is a sense of peace and connection to the land, the planet and the universe...
So, what’s coming up in the future? More songwriting, more recording and getting on the road to tour......
